Open Graph tags
Meta tags that control how a URL appears when shared on social platforms — title, description, and preview image.
In long form.
Open Graph (og:) was developed by Facebook and is now the de facto standard for social sharing previews across LinkedIn, Slack, Discord, Messenger, iMessage, and more. Required tags: og:title, og:description, og:image, og:url. The image should be 1200x630px, under 8MB, with text legible at small sizes. Twitter has its own twitter:card tags but generally falls back to og: when the twitter equivalents are missing.
Every page on a Next.js site should export OG metadata via the metadata API. We auto-generate OG images per route using the framework's image generation — same template, dynamic title and category, on every page.
