Mura CMS was an open-source ColdFusion content management system developed by Blue River Interactive, widely adopted by state government agencies and enterprise CF shops in the 2010s. Blue River later transitioned Mura to a closed-source/commercial-only licensing model, which prompted a community fork — Masa CMS — to keep the open-source codebase available for organizations that needed it. Mura installations remain widely deployed in U.S. state and county government, particularly in Mid-Atlantic and Western states.
When a state agency comes to Nessim Works with an existing Mura installation, the practical question is usually: stay on commercial Mura, migrate to Masa, or replatform entirely. We work all three paths and have the CF fluency to evaluate each honestly per the client's procurement and operational constraints.
