Largest Contentful Paint (LCP)
Core Web Vital measuring when the largest visible element finishes rendering. Target: under 2.5 seconds on mobile.
In long form.
LCP is one of three Core Web Vitals tracked by Google as ranking signals. It measures the render time of the largest image or text block visible in the viewport, relative to when the page first started loading. Good LCP is under 2.5 seconds, needs improvement is 2.5–4.0 seconds, poor is over 4 seconds. The metric is measured against real-user data via the Chrome User Experience Report.
When we audit a slow site, LCP is usually the most actionable Core Web Vital to fix first — typical wins come from preloading the hero image, removing render-blocking resources, and trimming unused JavaScript.
