Core Web Vitals (CWV)
A set of three Google metrics measuring real-user page experience: loading (LCP), interactivity (INP), and visual stability (CLS).
In long form.
Core Web Vitals are part of the Page Experience signal in Google's ranking algorithm. The three current metrics: LCP (Largest Contentful Paint, target under 2.5s), INP (Interaction to Next Paint, target under 200ms — replaced FID in March 2024), and CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift, target under 0.1). Measured against real-user data via the Chrome User Experience Report (CrUX). 'Good' on all three is the threshold for the page-experience signal.
On every audit we pull CrUX data via PageSpeed Insights and Search Console. A site with poor CWV can rank — but it ranks below its potential, and the issue is typically fixable in days, not months.
